Water Baptism Does Not Save 3

2 Samuel 18:33 And the king was much moved, and went up to the chamber over the gate, and wept: and as he went, thus he said, O my son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! would God I had died for thee, O Absalom, my son, my son! 19:4 But the king covered his face, and the king cried with a loud voice, O my son Absalom, O Absalom, my son, my son!

Absalom had tried to kill his father David and become the King in his place. David wept over Absalom because he knew that Absalom had gone to the place of torments.

Furthermore, water baptism is a work done by the one doing the baptism and is meant to be a work of obedience by him and by the one being baptized. We are not saved by the works of mortal men or by obedience, we are saved by faith. God is pleased with believers when they obey Him in baptism. He is never pleased with an unbeliever.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

If water baptism saved it would not be the water we drink, it would be spiritual water.

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 4:15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

When we drink physical water we thirst for it again. Physical water does not come out of the bellies of believers and does not provide eternal life. H2O is not living water. Rivers of eternal-life-giving living water are spiritual and are not seen by our physical eyes.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
